Design Principles for Creative Online Conversations
A resource to help you become a better online facilitator
Humans will always love and want face-to-face connections and, therefore, events.
BUT… Online workshops and discussions have their place. For me, Zoom was an amazing connector during lockdown. I found friends and colleagues all over the world, and participated in Zoom sessions that were intimate, meaningful, stimulating, and creative.
BUT… I also saw too many examples of where Zoom was used badly – droning presenters reading off PowerPoint slides. I got sick and tired of seeing this, and of hearing from other people how bored and turned-off they were by the same thing.
As a facilitator I love crafting conversations that are engaging, vivid, and meaningful and I love using creative techniques and content to do this. In this short guide I have listed a few design principles that have helped me to become a better facilitator. I hope they can help you too.
